Far beyond medals: project brings Olympic values into schools and transforms students’ daily lives
Respect, friendship, overcoming challenges, and teamwork. These are some of the values that were part of the Olympic Day programme at Colégio Estadual Jardim Vila Boa, in Goiânia. More than a sporting celebration, the initiative showed how Olympism can contribute to the civic education of children and adolescents. The initiative is part of a project that brings Olympic values into the school environment through educational activities, talks, and sports practices. The proposal follows a global initiative by the International Olympic Committee that seeks to bring young people closer to the principles behind the Olympic Games.
